I have a matrix whose entries are symbolic expressions. Can I substitute values row wise or column wise? It is easy to substitute values in different entries but how to substitute row wise or column wise.i.e I want to substitute 1 in row one and 2 in row two to get numeric values.
Hi, I thaink you can use an expression of the following form:
A_new = subs(A, A(1,:), B)
to substitute B to the first line of A.
That's right Sir, Your idea almost worked for me.But sir the above command gave me only one row in answer.
e.g. If A is a matrix of two rows then how can I get back a new matrix with the two rows but with substituted values.The command you mentioned above worked but gave me only one row.
Shakeel , make a loop , if you have indexed that is constant it will give you one row.
[RmaxLen,CmaxLen]=size(A);
for i=1: RmaxLen
ANu(i)=subs(...A(i,:)...)
end
Hi, for example you can write:
syms x y z t
A=[x,y;z,t]
A2=subs(A,A(1,:),[1,2])
and you will obtain
A2=[1 2
z t]
But Sir, If I want to substitute 1 in x,y and 2 in z,t in your example,is this possible?That's my requirement to put values row wise,i.e.similar value in one complete row and then a different value in next row(all entries).
