Yes you can but I suggest not to be in a hurry to publish papers from your Ph D work. Try to gather as much complete data you can and be sure that you are not going to repent after publication. Your present concept might change when you are on the verge of completion of your work. Also ensure that the published paper from the field of your Ph D must have a good standard.
