Dear Sohana Siddiqua as mentioned above by Heather Douglas , you should chose a specific topic, moreso, a topic that is EASY TO FIND VALID DATA, otherwise you wil lbe frustrated! I tell my doctoral students to hink ahead of what the data will look like. See what data is available from the Bangalesh government (if you want to study your topic there). There will be a lot. See which fields are available, suchg as revenues, net profits, industry type, and other economics related factors. These you could then summarize, quantitatively, to give you the financial aspect. You can also get a lot of data from the United Nations I believe Bangladesh is a member country. Try their site at un.org - feel free to tell me your RQ and maybe I can help further. 1) I have to choose a specific topic.

Confusion: How much specific? As specific as, "Good governance and firms' financial performance: Evidence from the GCC countries."? But I am sure this topic wouldn't take 2 years to finish. So would it fit a Master's Admission application?

2) Before I finalize a topic, I should look for its available data. (This is insightful and I will keep in mind)

3) No, I am not planning to study it in Bangladesh. Rather, I want to prepare a research proposal on it for a Master's admission application in Canada / Malaysia. Would it be irrelevant if I want to study a topic of Bangladesh's economy in Canada, keeping in mind Canada's economic advancement? Please advise me on this.

@siddiqua, if you are trying to get into Canada or any couentry via student study, and immigrate there (only guessing):then look at their immigration needs, where they need skills, like agriculture, oil tar sands, cryptocurrency etc. I am not sure as I am American With limited Knowledge of there.

Again, pick a more specific topic, see what data is available otherwise you will have difficulty later on collecting data.

Search online for papers using the doi. As often it will be uploaded Somewhere .

As others have said, it is important to have a topic and a data collection plan that you can accomplish, as a practical matter, with the time and resources you have. I think that this means that the topic should NOT be broad and sweeping.

Even a doctoral dissertation should be selected this way, as something you can do within your resources, time, and funding.
