Can we predict evolution of metabolic pathways using a combined network and sequence analysis?

If so, is there any way to model evolution of a metabolic network?

Thank you for your reply. Probably, one can observe the steady state behavior of the network and introduce the effect of evolution as a fitness calculated using either acquisition or loss of genes predicted through sequence analysis. Although, I'm not sure if it will work out.
