I would like to measure Acetaldehyde and limonene content in recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET). AA can be measured by GC-FID with headspace sampler and limonene by GC-MS. However, we can't buy both of them. Can we measure both of Acetaldehyde and limonene by only GCMS without FID and headspace sampler? I would be grateful if you could suggest me. Thank you!

If you don't have a headspace autosampler, then you must have a typical liquid injection autosampler. Limonene can also be injected into a GC by liquid autosampler. It must be dissolved in solvent, such as Ethyl Acetate or Methanol. So, you'll need to extract both Acetaldehyde and Limonene using one solvent, then introduce you extraction mixture by liquid injection into your GC-MS.
It is not easy to explain how you would develop a method in your instrument that uses your GC-MS with liquid autosampler to detect and quantify Acetaldehyde and Limonene just by writing an answer to you here. It is a labor-intensive process that requires hands-on experience. I wish you all the best finding someone at your institution who has this experience to help you.
Bottom line: Yes you can use your instrument as it is now to detect your analytes.

Since our analysed sample is a volatile compound, I am concerned about the complete analysis of all residues during sample preparation. Is it available for analysis of VOC using only GC-MS using conventional solvent extraction method without headspace? I would be very grateful if you suggest it. Thanks a lot.
