As we all know that YVMV in okra is not yet all seed transmitted viral disease, so, what happens if we go for harvesting of those infected plants. because, breeding for viral disease resistance is not only concerned trait.. so, the question arises can we go for harvesting of YVMV infected plants for generation proceeding?
I think no, because the attacked pods can be soiled and bitter in taste taste is an important factor in cocoa
According to me no, because if we harvest the pod and extract seed from YVMV infected plants then attacked pods and seed may be low quality. For quality seed production it has some limits depending upon the crops. If it more than that the seed lot cannot be treated as quality seed.
Thank you Sanjoy Kumar Bordolui , Upon seed extraction from YVMV plants will decreases seed quality with regards to seed physiology. even, while we are considering it for breeding tactics. If a parent is susceptible to virus seeds should be extracted from healthier plants.
To me, big no, viral diseases are systemic so harvesting already infected pods could be a source of contamination for the new progenies.
No... don't extract the seed of YVMV infected crop.. seed is under developed, shrivelled and may be loaded with virus which will reinfect if plants are grown from that infected seed.
