We ARE facing the Covid-19 already, so this part of the question does not require a reply. And, yes, it is a "dangerous reality" - just look at the news.
But also yes, it is a "transient disease" and at some point it will be over; just like other epidemic/pandemic events in the past. You might want to read up on the Black Death of 1348 or the Spanish Flu about 100 years ago; both events resulted in millions of deaths but were over at some point.
On a side note; it might be useful to compare the current Corona virus with the impacts of influenza (or any other contagious disease for that matter) we have every year.
"In total, the CDC estimates that up to 42.9 million people got sick during the 2018-2019 flu season, 647,000 people were hospitalized and 61,200 died." And apparently, this only refers to the US.

I'm totally agree with Dr. Benni Thiebes Benni Thiebes , if you compare ratio of people, who got sick and died in the world from Covid-19 and flu, you'll find that flue is more dangerous for people.
Sergey Krasilnikov now that this discussion is more than 4 months old and we have had a good share of physical distancing, home quarantine, news coverage of how hospitals are overwhelmed and all that, I wonder whether you still consider flu more dangerous than Covid-19.
Sergey Krasilnikov very nice to hear that you have changed your opinion; as scientists, we must not be dogmatic but need to change our views based on what is observed.
And yes, I very much see how government action and/or inaction can worsen the situation. It will be quite interesting to investigate how culture and governance contributes to the social impacts of the pandemic.
Of course we can all make a mistake, but most importantly, we learn from the error. Sometimes these mistakes lead us to the right thing. I respect any opinion if it is directed towards serving people.
