I don't think it is possible to grow a thin film of Pentacene as single crystal. You can however grow larger size single crystals (mm - cm range) of Pentacene using OVPD technique
Thank you Dear Salahud Din, Now a days people are doing research in nanometer scale, I need in nano meter range. If you know any other process let me know.
Dear Ajay, I was under the impression that you wanted to fabricate an entire thin film of pentacene as single crystal on larger size. When you say nano meter range - those are referred to as nano structures. Anyways If you can tell me more about your process and your requirements and for what application, I may be able to help you further.
Ok, There are quite a few ways you can make a field effect transistor with pentacence.
Thin film approach:
(1) Grow a thin film of pentacene using high vacuum evaporation technique On per-patterened OFETs structures substrate. Where the channel length is in nano-meter range. You will have to heat up your substrate during deposition to able control the crystalinity of pentacence film/nano-structures.
and (2) which is the answer to your question -
Single Crystal approach:
(i) top contact - bottom gate OFET:
Grow a single crystal of Pentacene (via OVPD) first on top of Gated- Si substrate/SiO2 and then deposit the source and drain with nano-meter range spacing between them but be-careful of channel width,
(ii) Top contact - top gate ( which is difficult and often show damages the organic semiconductor when depositing the dielectric).
Grow single crystal first - Place it on non-conducting substrate, then deposit your source and drain / then your dielectric and gate electrode on top.
There is plenty of work been published on Pentacene OFETs,
