Can we make the statement that If the crystallite size is higher than the sample is more crystalline?
sorry but this is quite a huge mess. With diffraction you do not measure the particle size, but the size of the coherently scattering domains. So if by crystallinity you mean the extension of the crystalline regions in your specimen, well bingo you have a direct correlation. If by crystallinity you mean the quantity of crystalline phase then no.
Just remember, however, the meaning of te quantity you measure i.e. whether the size you have is just a length, is the numerical mean or the volume weighted one. Things can be quite different.
By the way, using the Williamson-hall method and Scherrer formula quantitatively in 2012 is a bit ridiculous... especially on ZnO that mostly show distributed hexagonal-shaped domains and it has a low faulting energy...

Yes, We did find the correlation in the case of natural graphite.

If by 'particle size', we mean only the physical dimension, then, I think there is no relation of this term with 'crystallinity'.
I don't think any reasonable correlation of particle size and crystallinity experimentally. We do have some focus on theory. But experimentally it will lead to a mess as expressed by Leoni. Please remember XRD does not give particle size and therefore easily concluded that there will not be any exact relation between particle size and crystallinity using XRD.

They are some correlation such as partial substitution in Barium Ferrite ceramic give rise to the increase or decrease the crystallite size as well the particle size. Quite number of paper told about it. They not only using XRD, that depend very much depend on the accuracy of the instrument, sample preparations, standart sample to extract instrument broadening etc. They also using HRTEM to validate the analysis.
This question is a mind shaking question. To be debated in scientific community.
Recently I tried to create a relation between particle size and crystallite size of a powder. soon i will let you know my relation for discussion and debate. Hope all scientific communities of Physics, Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering will participate in discussion.
