The internal burning of soot particles has been proved by previous studies which addressed on the diesel soot oxidation at low-temperature conditions (i.e. DPF, TGA). However, the possibility of internal burning of the primary soot particles has not been adequately addressed at flame temperatures. Can the primary particles burn inside at the flame temperature, especially on the localized low-temperature or rich regions in the cylinder during the diesel combustion course?
