Hello ResearchGate community,
In my Aspen Plus model for methanol synthesis via gasification, I have been able to achieve satisfactory methanol production compared to literature data, even though the syngas composition currently show an H2/CO ratio of 2.4, but the stoichiometric ratio of (H2-CO2)/(CO+CO2) = 2, can't be satisfied!
I'm curious to know if it's acceptable or common practice to primarily focus on the H2/CO ratio for methanol synthesis and if the deviation of the stoichiometric ratio might not be a critical concern. Are there any practical reasons or considerations that might allow for this flexibility in the syngas composition when the ultimate goal is methanol production?
Thank you
