Can the composition of a workpiece change after machining? Especially in the case of EDM process where the tool and workpiece erodes during the machining. Due to this, can it be expected that new elements may be seen after machining?

Thanks Amin.

In my experiment, i found formation of few elements other than base material composition on the EDMed surface. We use EDXA. Can EDXA results be accepted for knowing compositional changes or spectroscopic analysis should be used?
