SLE is one of autoimmune disease which also influenced by genetic, environtment, and hormonal. Immune system was disregulated and it caused production of autoantibody that deleterious to tissues, in which the immune complex was pooled. It involved humoral and cellular immune response.

Management of SLE based on its pathology is to control the autoimmune process and certainly management of symptom that appears.

Parameters that usually use to evaluate therapy is quality of life of patients and relapse period

The exact etiopathogeny of SLE remains debatable. Hence, SLE is manageable, but not curable as yet and the patient needs to take drugs throughout life to avoid relapses due to drug cessation
