Within the framework of my research I would like to use Matlab to control NX Nastran. Specifically, I would like to iteratively feed different model parameters into the model and let NX Nastran solve this model. I have some experience using the COMSOL livelink for Matlab, but as my license has expired, I am looking for alternatives.

The input for Nastran is a bdf file, that contains all the commands to define the structure, the properties, the loads ... This file is a text file that can be opened with any text editor. If you identify the line(s) that you want to change in your iteration, you can edit the .bdf file in Matlab using the commands to read from and write to file (fopen, fgetl, fwrite...) and then use the command "system" to run Nastran with the new bdf file.
The run command should be something like
system('nastran.exe file_name.bdf')

Sounds like you are up and running. Another possibility is to use Code Aster, an open source FEA software. This code is directly controlled by python, so your control statements can be in python.

I understood the solution but where I can find the .bdf file? From NX Nastran I see only .prt, .fem and .sim files.
use this command line:
runfile('mode1.bdf','C:\MSC.Software\MSC_Nastran\20190\bin\nastranw.exe','MD Nastran finished',['scratch=yes batch=no news=no old=no out='],[],'Yes')

How do you create the bdf file in NX Nastran?
Alberto Mora, normally, when you hit "solve" in NX, it automatically generates a .bdf (or .dat) file. You can also ask to just write the .bdf file.

However I do not understand the suggestion of Mr. Mahmoud Alfouneh : in MATLAB does not exist a comand called "runfile", are you sure that you are not confusing with the Python command? The solution that you suggest doesn't work.

I must say that the command line needs a code in MATLAB which I should include it. However, instead use this command line:
system('C:\MSC.Software\MSC_Nastran\20190\bin\nastranw.exe mode1.bdf');
REMEMBER: mode1.bdf is the bdf file.
also use a delete.m file to delete the files that NASTRAN generates. One line of this code can be like this:
delete('E:\uni-pc\PhD\MIST\ANSYS\DynCom\Luo3\mode1.f06')
