I am trying to study site based comparisons of Art Deco structures from India (preferably Mumbai) and USA (preferably Chicago). Being a Masters level Historic Preservation student, I am looking out suggestions for my final presentation.
I recommend you study the style and fate of Brussels' famous Art Déco architect Victor Horta. Due to corruption and restless real estate speculators many of these houses have been destroyed. However a few remain and they are wonderful with a great use of metal and stone combined, light and windows, as well as unique decorative patterns. Look for "la maison du gaz". Adding these to your current material may give you new ideas, methods, structure for the work you are completing.
Renaud Di Francesco Thank you for your recommendation sir. I am looking into it as I am in phase of my thesis, I am looking forward to all kinds of suggestions and recommendation in this process.
Dear Divya, one of the doctoral work on Art Deco in Mumbai, I recommend is Mustanshir Dalvi's PhD work at IDC IIT Bombay. He has explored the semantics in Art Deco.
Mustanshir is a Faculty at Sir JJ School of Architecture.
