I feel that the R script is sensitive to the code snippet.

Since you are concerned to work with species distribution map , I would suggest easiest alternate method of using Esri ArcGIS R programming.

But to solve your current issue, please run your code with proper code indentation.

##please follow the indentation, although logical and consistent indentation makes code run perfect in R Studio...

## You need the rspatial devtools to be added to your project or you can load it from online..

install.packages("remotes") remotes::install_github("rspatial/rspatial")

##and then proceed with..
