We recently started using SVS 2 for the ICP-OES 720 (Varian) which was suppose to improve sample throughput but we have experienced a number of problems. We started experiencing concave calibration curves for K and Na which could be due to ionization. We are also experiencing drift and carryover which were not happening before.

Our lab analyses soil, leaf, and fertilizer samples. The matrix usually run on the ICP are the AMBIC for soil extracts and nitric acid for leaf analysis.

Is there anyone who have experienced any of these problems with the switching valve system? And how can they be overcome?
