can some one explain the relationship between the nitrate uptake, nitrate reductase activity, and protein content in cotton leaf and root, under late sowing and early sowing date with low middle and high plant density in different growth stages of cotton crop ?
for fertigation of horticultural crops there is antagonistic reln bet ween nitrate up take and nitrate reductase activity. Difficult to say exactly about cotton crop. In general protein content should be positively correlated with nitrate uptake.
nitrate is reduced to nitrite by NR mainly in leaf, then further to ammonia by nitrite reductase. therefor the relationship between nitrate up take, nitrate reductase activity and protein content would be different in shoot and root.
and the activity of NR would be stimulated by light, so different planting density might affect the NR activity.
Under Chromium toxicity and chlorophyll concentration drop symptom, there is a correlation in Nimphaea leaves but this is linked to ALA blockage.
