Can one ferment a particular substrate with a combination of yeasts and bacterial cells considering the differences in their growth requirements?
It is possible to ferment with mixed cultures. However, you will not always have a stable mixture if the growth characteristics are too much different. On the other hand, there are many examples of synergisms where bacteria act first and then the yeast starts growing or vice versa. What would be the substrate, and what is the composition of the mixed culture?

the main differences are: bacteria typically grow at neutral pH=7 of higher while yeast optimum pH is around 5, bacteria growth rate is typically higher than the yeast one.
