I am doing photoluminescence excitation measurement the equipment is running with a xenon lamp and for 250 nm excitation that is proper for our measurement the intensity is an order of magnitude smaller that 350 nm.
We have a 250 nm nano LED laser diode from Horiba and can generate 200 ps pulses.
Can I use the Nano LED diode laser in CW mode?
I imaging that this is CW modelocked, producing 200psec pulses at a high repetition rate (100MHz?). The important thing is whether you have enough average power to detect the photoluminescence.

the high peak intensity of the laser LED is necessary to generate the population inversion within the bands. This intensity is related to a high pulse current in this diode. A continuous current with this amplitude would destroy the LED.Therefore exist 2 possibilities:
-to use the laser diode like a continuous mode LED. The average intensity La follows from La = Lpeak*200ns/repetition time.
-To use the diode with a lower current Ic = Ipeak*200ps/repetition time. I think, Ic is not sufficient to exceed the intensity of the XENON lamp.

The laser we have in the lab is a N-250 from Horiba Scientific.
I was wrong about the pulse width. The specs are as follow:
Pulse width:
The number of pulses follows from the ratio power of xenon lamp(at 250 nm)/power of 1pulse of LED.
