Almost certainly, but the pressure buildup might be considerable. Why not use an open system with K2SO4 as the salt to raise the BP and a good catalyst such as Se (assuming that you will distill the NH3). Do you want to measure anything else, e.g., K or P? If so the reagents need reconsideration.
Paul Milham , I don't have a high-heat digestion block so the microwave digestion oven is kind of my only option. I will be measuring K and P, but will be doing that digestion separately to run on the iCAP.
The goal is to be able to quickly digest the TKN sample on using the microwave, then run the sample on the Gallery Analyzer.
Then why not do the Kjeldahl digest using Na2SO4 instead of K2SO4 and test the digest for all three elements? An old-fashioned idea that works well. Can you please tell me what an iCAP is?
The microwave manufacturer should be able to advise on digestion conditions.
Kari Wolff - I am in the same boat - no high heat digestion block but access to a microwave digester and need TKN of biosolids - did you have any luck?
