I wanted to know what exactly happens to the methane that enters with the air into the pressure swing adsorption (PSA) system for nitrogen generation. My questions specifically are:
Does the methane get filtered out in the pre-filtration step? Does it stay mixed with the oxygen? Or does it in fact stay mixed with the nitrogen as a small impurity?
If this small amount amount of methane does remain as an impurity in the end product nitrogen, can this be changed if we have methane concentrations of about 1000 ppm in the gas mixture as opposed to 2 ppm in the atmospheric mix?
