On average cerebellar granule cells have four dendrites (if I am correct). I wonder here if in realistic condition inputs coming from a single denrite can trigger a spike in a granule cell, or you need at least two dendrites to be stimulated?

It has nothing to do with the dendritic numbers you stimulated. It is about the types and numbers of stimulus you did. Any single excitatory stimulus could induce a spike you wanted to record. This stimulus could come from spontaneous miniature excitatory vesicle release or a package of excitatory vesicles emancipation or an artificial drug release (such as caged glutamate). In contrast, if the stimulus is inhibitory signal, an opposite spike will be recorded. Usually, only a small amount of vesicles received by a dendritic spine will cause a grade potential, which could be accumulated spatially and temporally. If you stimulate a whole dendrite by excitatory signal, you may activate over hundred of dendritic spine simultaneously. If the accumulation of grade potential over the threshold of neuron, an action potential will be generated.
