Can inflow rate be lower than recirculation rate in UASB in ANAMMOX process?

I have calculated inflow for lab scale UASB reactor as 0.4L/hr whereas the re circulation rate that I have got is 3L/hr

I have calculated recirculation rate by following formula

Vup= {Q(inflow)+ Q(recycle}/Area of cross section

Yes if recirculation is internal. No if recirculation is external.
