I have used EGFR/Tyr-Kinase for my docking studies. But I have got one dough like the inhibitor I use, will also stop other growth regulations. So I would like to know is this fine to go ahead.
For selecting the protein receptor to study you will have to go through the literature and also the disease pathway, from that find out if the protein you thinking plays a major role and identify the roles. Then probably you can choose that. Hope this helps.
Ya true. I have an evidence this pathway is involved in breast cancer but if i will inhibit this then there would be chances of other pathways are getting hampered. Isnt it??
Yep its quite possible to get false positive results in such kind of studies!!! What you can do then is check how much important that protein is in other pathways or what is the degree of importance of that protein in other functioning and accordingly we can proceed with it.
In my opinion, a docking study is only appropriate if you know that the protein you use as receptor is the one involved in the action of your compound(s). If not, you might end up optimizing your compound(s) against the wrong target.
What kind of evidence do you have that your compound is acting on your target?
