I want to use for the analysis of Chlorella vulgaris extract method Zcillner and. Kirsch (1962). This method is used for analysis of blood serum total lipids. I read that vanillin-phosphoric acid reagent reacts only with the decay products of unsaturated lipids (Lipids + sulfuric acid were placed for 20 minutes in a water bath = decomposition products of unsaturated lipids).
But in the blood (and chlorella - consisting of chlorella about 80% unsaturated fatty acids) have lipids myristic, palmitic and stearic acids saturated, these lipids are not taken into account when applying this method?
