Does anyone know if phthalates (in particular dibutylphthalate) distill? In other words, is the distillation a effective method to clean samples (like wine and spirits) or solvents (hexane, dicloromethane, or acetone) from phthalates?

Distillation can be a effective method to clean especially solvents (ethanol, hexane, dicloromethane, or acetone) from phthalates, but it is not an easy task . The main problem is to get the still itself free of phthalates. This will need a number of cleaning cycles and a phthalate free environment.
