Can I use diethylene glycol instead of monoethylene glycol to preserve brain tissue in -80ºC?

I need to do antifreeze solution to store brain tissue samples. In my protocol I need to use monoethylene glycol, but in our lab there is only diethylene glycol. Can I use it the same way or it will affect the tissue differently?

Dear Luís Felipe Toscano I think it is possible since mono-, di- and tri- ethylene glycols solutions have similar and close antifreeze features. Please have a look at the following free access RG paper (tables 4, 5 and 6). Another interesting benefit of using propylene glycol that has a very low toxicity compared to EG. My Regards
