I have an alloy from titanium and I want to use the Ag as a counter electrode because the unavailability of Pt electrode in my Lab.
I will use one of these electrolytes: (0.15M NH4F + H2SO4) OR (1M H3PO4 + 0.3 wt% HF)
Is there any comments on the usage of like these electrolytes with Ag as counter electrode ? in the present of problems - Is there any alternative solutions?

Carbon electrode will be usefull. A simple way to get a carbon electrode is to disassemble a zinc-carbon battery, so you obtain a carbon rod.
why don't you use a fritted glass separated tube (as commonly used for synthetic electrolysis)??
Thank you Prof. Lionel for your suggestion, but unfortunately I do not know more about fritted glass separator tube, I will be highly appreciate for you if you could explain it or recommend any reference use it to generate TiO2 nanotubes on the surface of Ti specimens.
In principle you can use any metal plate as counter electrode (cathode, stainless steel too) as its main purpose is to support current passage. only H2 evolution takes place at this cathode. you may use carbon or graphite plate also.

As the guys said you can use carbon or stainless steel as a counter electrode but I would suggest you to use fritted glass. The reason is to block any dissolved materials to pollute your solution or react with your working electrode.
The fritted glass is made by sintering process. This process make glass white and poros so it became like a filter. For more information about sintering, you can ask the glass blower.

It appears that, the different cathode materials led to the fabrication of different morphologies due to differences in their overvoltage within the test electrolyte. Hence, the arrangement of the cathode materials according to their stability in aqueous electrolytes is in the following order: Pt=Pd>C>Ta>Al>Sn>Cu>Co>Fe>Ni>W.
