I have done crude extraction of citronella, lemongrass, garlic and onion using 99.5% Ethanol. Now I want to dissolve the extracts in a suitable solvent to test them against whiteflies.
(a) Will my test insect affect if I dissolve the extract in same strength (99.5%) Ethanol.
(b)Is it correct if I prepare 10mg/ml stock solution with 99.5% Ethanol and prepare other dilutions with distilled water.
(c) Or otherwise what is the best concentration of Ethanol that I can use to do the bioassay without harming my test insects.
In my view you should perform series of dilutions for better performance of the study, such as 45%, 60%, and 70 %.

During the extraction process you should use 75% of ethanol instead of 99.5% to prevent or minimise the evaporation ethanol.
Ethanol 99.5% evaporate very fast and it is not preferred cause it has a repellent effect on insects...
You should use ethanol 75%...
In experiments you should prepare all (treatments and control) with the same solvent

You have to uniform the solvent for extraction, treatment, and control to minimize the experimental error.
Yes you can. But I suggest you to use low concentration. Ethanol is usually used as carrier when applied only test compound remain on test surface, while ethanol evaporated. but before that make sure that ethanol don't have any synergistic or denaturing effect on test compound I suggest you to use 2 control positive and negative to deal with any experimental error.
Yes, you can but use pure grade solvent to prevent the interaction with other impurities.
