I would like to know if Sirophysalis trinodis has been described from India? Also could I get the detailed description for this taxa from other locations?
The type locality of Sirophysalis trinodis (Forsskål) Kützing is located on Sinai peninsula (El-Tor), Gulf of Suez ... And yes, this species was also recorded from India ...
Please check for this: Silva, P.C., Basson, P.W. & Moe, R.L. (1996): Catalogue of the benthic marine algae of the Indian Ocean. University of California Publications in Botany 79: 1259 pp.
and
Sahoo, D., Nivedita & Debasish (2001): Seaweeds of Indian coast. New Delhi (A.P.H. Publishing), xxi + 283 pp.

Hi Mike, I am aware of the records mentioned in Silva and Sahoo Checklists, however, these are most likely an erroneous records. The localities and the proper references are not mentioned about the first siting of this species from Indian coast. I have collected this species recently and shall be describing it shortly.
