I conducted an RNA-seq experiment and analyzed the data (including quality control, mapping, differential expression, and pathway enrichment). Unfortunately, my laptop was damaged and I lost the raw FASTQ files. I had initially downloaded them from a sequencing provider, but their platform no longer provides access, and I was unable to retrieve the data.
However, I still have all the processed data: expression matrices, differential gene expression results, QC reports, and functional enrichment analyses. I’ve deposited these on Zenodo with a DOI.
My question is: ➤ Is it acceptable to publish in a peer-reviewed journal (such as Poultry Science or other Q1 journals in genomics/animal science) without providing the FASTQ files, as long as processed data and methods are transparently shared?
I would greatly appreciate any advice or examples from others who have published under similar circumstances. Thank you!
