I participated in a conference last year, this year will too . My question is Can I present same topic in different conference or I have to seek a new idea?
I agree with Prof. Ian. Presenting the same ideas stifle scientific progression and retards societal and global developments. Keep on researching and bringing new ideas that would improve systems and ways of life to make our world better. Innovation and novelty are the pinnacles every researcher must exhibit. This is what we need in the global academic community.
Nevertheless, in special situations, when the last Conference is National while the forthcoming is International, and you need to meet more and different interesting new Scientific community, or you have to present an original idea for a large audience, you can make some small changes including the title, add your perspectives in future, add a little bit of any new as said Dr; Ian Kennedy ... etc...
I think the only way to present it again would be if you update it with the latest articles and research developed and published, you could even talk about the change that has taken place during a year of studies, surely new questions will have arisen during this time
You can present on the same subject, but something in the data or analysis should be different for each conference, so that each provide "new" information to the scholarly literature.
It is unethical to present the same research you had presented in a congress. However, if the topic is different and you do different work even in the same line, you can present new results.
By the way, you can present the same subject in both national and international congress, in my opinion.
Presenting the same topic in different conferences is like publishing the same paper in different journals (which obviously is unethical and illegal as well).
Ethics are not permitting to present it again with major similarities unless there should be some significant change/advancement (in terms of data, scope, objectives, listing of new result or addition of other elements) in the paper which u presented in last conference
First of all, we have to understand your question. Do you mean repeating the same work in a different conference? This is obviously unacceptable. But if it is different in case study or application or methodology I think you can present in another different conference. Actually, looking for new ideas will strengthen your scientific research and better than repeating the same idea
