Addition of 10-20% (v/v) glycerol or 1mg/mL BSA can also greatly stabilize glycosyl hydrolase enzymes and improve their shelf-life when stored in buffer solution in the fridge for about a month or so
Stock aqueous solution of the cellulases/pectinases should be stored in small aliquots at -20 degrees. I generally use one aliquot at a time as these enzymes are heat sensitive..
I dont think this is feasible. Rather i would suggest following:
1. Never prepare/store your enzyme as AQUEOUS Solution. You MUST use the specific buffer system (such as Citrate buffer pH 4.8; 0.05M e.g. for cellulase).
2. Do not freeze your enzyme, unless otherwise indicated.
3. In case you freeze your enzyme, avoid extensive freeze thaw cycle.
4. If your enzyme is a powder, then make the dilutions in buffer and use it in the same day and in between store at 4 degrees.
