I would like to conduct an EEG study, but have two different EEG Amplifier boxes. One is 64 channel and one is 128 channel. They both need to be used at the same time.
To ensure similar consistency by measurement, can I use 32 channels from both of them to measure the same regions?
Additionally, can 64 channels be split into 2 for us to measure two participants at the same time if necessary? This is in mind that one set of 32 channels here would have to be recoded to the brain region areas.
Hmm. You can. By EEG, more channels like 32, 64, and 128 can be found in same brain region. But problem is the spatial resolution of EEG is not good at all. Therefore, no need to acquired 64 or 128 channels. 32 channels are more than enough. The clarification of Hiran Perera-W.A. is too good.

If I understood the question correctly, depending on your system setup, you can select the number of channels prior to the experiment or during your data processing. You can use both to measure the same region on 2 different subjects (32 channels from both which I assume to measure on 2 different participants). Recordings has to be done separately, unless you have the setup that can be done simultaneously. But, whether you could split a 64 channel into 2 and measure two participants at the same time is not something that I am familiar with especially if you are looking at the same brain region. Probably someone else in RG could answer that question.

I agree with Dr. Hiran Perera that you can select the desired 32 channels during data processing of the recorded signals given that 32 channels are common in both the mentioned amplifiers you have. You don't need to worry about the hardware part during recording, just select the desired 32 channels on software platform.

I agree with Hiran, subject specific separate recording with previously decided channel locations to be aquired , then follow anaysis. stepss
