I want to obtain a research doctorate quickly, either online or remotely. Where can I find a university that offers such a degree in community health or public health?
While online programs offer flexibility, it's essential to verify the credibility and recognition of the degree, especially if you plan to use it for career advancement or academic purposes. Some online degrees may not be as widely recognized, and certain positions may require degrees from traditional, on-campus programs.
Yes, you can pursue a research doctorate in public health with a focus on community health at Georgia Southern University. The Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program offered by the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health provides comprehensive training to prepare leaders in public health, healthcare, and research.
Key Features of the Program:
Focus Areas: Includes community health, health policy, epidemiology, and leadership.
Format: The program is available online or in person on the Statesboro campus, providing flexibility for both full-time students and working professionals.
Credit Hours: The program requires 60-69 credit hours, depending on your chosen concentration and previous qualifications.
Entry Term: Admissions are open for the Fall semester. For more details, visit the official program page here https://ww2.georgiasouthern.edu/jphcoph/degrees/drph/ for Georgia Southern DrPH Program.
Feel free to reach out to the admissions office or me as the Department Chair.
I was able to get a PhD in Public Health from Walden University . They also offer a DrPH program the DrPH program is shorter than the PhD and less research intensive. Though the program is online you are required to go to an inperson conference once per year to meet with your advisors. The research conferences are offered in the United States and virtually. If you are a foreign student you have to get a visa to attend in person conferences in the U.S. and I believe at least 1 in-person is required. All required courses are virtual and usually take two years to complete then it depends on how long it takes you to finish doing your research and writing your dissertation. I did mine in 4 years ( 2 years of courses and 2 years of research and writing). I know some people were able to complete in 3 years and some people took the whole 7 years. If you take more than 7 years you can request a 1 year extension. If that is granted and you don't finish in 8 years you have to start all over again. I hope this is helpful for you.
