I am working on assessment of sfM and SGM algorithms to evaluate which is the best in generating point clouds and 3d models of captured images. I can't lay my hand on any material for the mathematical formulations, can someone please help out or refer to helpful resources? I'll be developing a stand alone application with these algorithms in Matlab
The general answer is yes you can. The special answer is, please check the Photogrammetric text books for the mathematical models and computer vision for image matching. The very basic idea is to do image matching in the overlap region between different using any suitable method for your task and then use an intersection algorithm to compute your 3D points or point cloud. So many ways or approaches are available to solve the intersection problem either in model space or the object space. You may check my Researchgate for more information.
