Well in principal I would say yes. Because you have heterotrophic anaerobes as well as autotrophic. With an LB you should be able to get some heterotrophes. It depends on what you want to achieve with your studies, to choose the medium. If you want to know functions I would allways recommend defined media, in which you know all components.
My guess is probably no. But than depends on which organism you want to isolate. Even if you provide anaerobic conditions, LB media is not properly buffered (carbonates) for proper growth of anaerobes. Also some inorganic ions such as ammonium which is required for obligate anaerobes are missing. So If you provide carbonates and some inorganic ions to LB media than may be some anaerobic organism might grow. If you could mentioned which organism you want to grow than i can suggest you some media.
Thank you for your answering. I am going to culture anaerobic bacteria of leachate. I want to culture mostly facutative anaerobice bacteria and if it is possible, obligate anaerobic bacteria.
yes you can use LB as complex medium to cultivate anaerobic bacteria. You can flush it with anoxic gas to remove oxygen and add a reducing agent such as cysteine to ensure a suitable redox potential for obligate anaerobes. If you know your target organisms it is best to go with a chemical defined medium as it is designed specifically for the organisms needs. But if you dont know the target organism or no medium is reported, LB is actually a good choice as it is very rich and provides a lot of nutrients. Good luck with your fermentations.
