I am conducting a research on comparison of some variables in multiple forest stands and I am experiencing a real confusion here. I do not know if there should be any presuppositions or not.
what exactly do you mean when you write "experiencing a real confusion"? Is it the case, you made an ordination analysis of your data and could not find interpretable groups of your forest stands?
I meant for ordination methods after transformation of data (standardization) do we need any other preparation of the data before running any analysis or the transformation of the data is enough? Don't you think I have to calculate VIF (variance inflation factor) as well then I try ordination methods?
Researchers around me including myself (we are botanists and ecologists) often use various methods of data standardization and it works perfectly in most of the cases. To calculate VIF could be a useful method, but I am not familiar with it. I am sorry that I cannot give more specific advice on this issue.
