Hi, does anyone have any research (or can point me in the right direction) as to how/if electromagnetic fields/electronic devices can 'trigger' ADD-like behaviour? Also, is rain/weather linked to this? [We have started managing our 9 y/o's ADD-like symptoms with diet but feel that electronic devices are a trigger & rain??]

Looking into the physical therapy section you can find a section about "regular physical exercise". Looking the other way round, bad weather may hinder physical activities (depending on individual habits). And if your point is "electronic devices" rather than electromagnetic fields, "fiddling" with electronic devices (whatever it is) takes simply time that is no longer available for physical exercise.

We have taken him to an occupational therapist in the past, who advised that physical activity (especially vestibular movements such as rolling, swinging, spinning, rocking) 'resets the central nervous system'. We have used this method successfully during homework time (eg. if he is stuck on a question and it is causing problems, we ask him to take a break and swing on the swings or jump on the trampoline - he usually comes back refreshed and able to concentrate better).
I have studied extensively on the topic of developmental and intellectual disorders and how they are caused. In researching, I have never seen anything on the topic of electromagnetic fields as being a cause for ADD. However, engaging in activities such as watching tv or playing video games can have a significant impact on the attention span. Since being able to focus and engage in problem-solving activities or maintaining a calm demeanor are some things that are difficult for individuals with ADD, too much time with electronics could have a negative impact on development. I agree that diet and exercise are wonderful treatments. Engaging your child in the world and allowing him or her to make discoveries and experience natural stimuli can hold incredible benefits. Of course, consulting a child specialist about medication or formal therapy is advised. I hope this helps!
From an entirely unscientific standpoint: My partner is a very (20y) experienced primary school teacher. She, and her colleagues feel that the kids are terribly excitable after strong winds. They (the kids) love playing outdoors when it is v windy and when they come in they are very hard to settle.

That's very interesting Dominic! When I was a child my mother always said that the rain made us crazy... I feel like there is some truth to it with my own children too!
