Can I approach delphi study for the validation of proposed research model/framework? i am confused because i read many articles but all are related to factors identification about the topic.
Please shed light. Appreciate your assistance.
Kiran - Delphi technique is very versatile in the sense that it can be used in a wide range of environments, e.g., government planning, business and industry predictions, volunteer group decisions. Being a structured communication method, it is an interactive forecasting method which relies on a panel of experts. Even the technique can also be adapted for use in face-to-face meetings. The panel of experts arrive at a consensus over a series of questions and discussions. It can be validate a questionnaire: first, select a suitable facilitator and experts with relevant knowledge, and make sure the problem is defined well. second: Identify your experts; third, define the problem well; fourth make some rounds of questions; fifth, replaces direct debate by a carefully designed program of sequential interrogations conducted by questionnaires interspersed with opinion feedback.
A useful response from Manzoor - and it depends Kiran. If it is already an established model or framework, then A Delphi could be used to gauge experts opinion on it. If it is a new framework/model - then Delphi would not be recommended. The 'experts' would know nothing of it as they have not seen it before - so they couldn't comment. You could use a multi/mixed methods approach whereby a Delphi is used for consensus on the main topic area that informs the framework - and then go on to test the framework i.e. pre-test/post-test design etc.
I am not sure what you mean by "validating a framework." Delphi interviews usually begin by soliciting open-ended responses to a question from the interviewer. Can you give use more information about what you would be asking the participants?
