If the food or the container is contaminated, then definitely a person coming in contact has a high possibility of contracting the disease. Its recommended to sanitize the container & preheat the food before consumption.
There is no evidence that covid-19 is food borne. Benjamin Chapman, a professor and food safety expert at North Carolina State University, pointed out: "there is no evidence that food or food packaging is one of the causes of covid-19 infection.". He also stressed that novel coronavirus pneumonia and new crown virus (SARS-CoV-2) that cause the disease still have many unknown aspects. As more information becomes available, our understanding of the spread of the disease and the risk of food may also change.
There are still now no evidence in any part of the world to prove that COVID-19 can be transmitted through food. But when it comes to take away food, someone is handing over the parcel to me. This virus may be present in that person's hands. That way, while taking take away food one may get infected. The same logic is applicable to raw food also.
To avoid this when we are purchasing raw food, in my home, it is not being used for cooking immediately. For a few hours (preferably seven to eight hours) I am just keeping it in a secluded place in my house. Then I am using it. I don't know if this scientifically correct or not but we have adopted this method since April, 2020. Many families in Kolkata are doing the same.
My anxiety and eagerness to the issue raised have been well explained by fellow researchers above with a solutive response. thanks to Kaushik Kumar Panigrahi for asking the important question.
