The clinical disease of COVID-19 has been low in children generally and vaccine has been develop.Any evidence of its safety, efficacy and risk for allergy in children?
any exemption for children ,any trial of the used vaccine on children.
This is not my field, but from what I have read, the vaccines have not been trialed on that age. I would think that a clinical trial is needed before that question can be answered.
Pfizer’s vaccine has been authorized for ages >16 and up. Moderna’s vaccine is currently authorized for ages 18 and up.
Both companies have begun clinical trials for younger kids.
Young adults and kids aren’t typically at high risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Because of this, even teens who are old enough to receive Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine will likely be in the final group to receive it (with exception of those ages 16 and up with high-risk health conditions).
Probably a full pediatric vaccine will be available by late 2021.
... vaccine, from Pfizer, has received FDA approval for any type of minor – and even that product can only be given to children 16 and older. https://www.kare11.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/when-will-kids-get-the-covid-19-vaccine-minesota-twin-cities/89-2cc65a92-806c-4ad2-838d-e4d229027797

There are a few exceptions: Individuals ages 16 and up with high-risk health conditions may have the opportunity to get the vaccine sooner, as well as individuals age 16 and up who are essential workers. https://www.connecticutchildrens.org/coronavirus/when-will-the-covid-19-vaccine-be-available-for-kids-and-will-it-be-safe-for-your-family/

A study here https://www.imperial.ac.uk/mrc-global-infectious-disease-analysis/covid-19/report-42-sars-cov-2-variant/ shows that teenagers are affected by one of the new strains. In reverse, another study published in Lancet, https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanchi/article/PIIS2352-4642(21)00030-4/fulltext indicates that the same UK variant, B.1.1.7 does not increase the number of hospitalization among this age group.
I think we should understand that some of us posting information on social media need to put clauses or caution on these early COVID-19 data as we may turn to be educated misinformants. The new variants are quite evolving and re-evolving and thus changing the recent knowledge about the SARS-CoV-2.
