I don't think there will be any problem using polyethylene tank and black colour as long as they are clean from any chemical residue. Black colour is actually preferable for lesser chance of algae growth.
Dear Dr.Rakesh, thanks for your answer. The experiment will be done in tropical weather(Malaysia) and no effect on tilapia fish due the experiment in non controal Condition just under plastic shelter.
It wont be a big problem. But you have to consider about the durability of the material. And also the spines of Tilapia fish, may cause to damage the polythene very easily. It is better to use double layered hard polythene material for your aquaponic system.
You can easily use polythene but try to use double layer or thick layered polyethylene to avoid damage due to the tilapia spine scratch. Optimum feeding will save you from biotic film formation. Black colour will save from algae growing in the system. Is it a recirculatory system?
