Bats are known to sense and navigate using the geomagnetic field. Is there a possibility of the existence of a cryptochrome based quantum navigation system in the bat retinal cells? Like birds (european robins) do bats have specialised optical cells with cryprochrome or cryptochrome like proteins which can boost electrons existing in a quantum entanglement state on response to photons?
Well, it is certainly possible, given how little is known about how animals detect magnetic fields. However, the work that has been done on magnetoreception in bats so far has provided evidence for a system based on magnetite instead of cryptochromes; see, for example, the following paper:
