My crude plant sample is extracted with various solvents of increasing polarity (a,b,c,d,e, f). I am asking the above extracted solvent should be performed individual or combined for my studies?
I am performing a novel technique in which max number of constituents should be extracted by a few extractions.
sir , a leaf powder extracted with various 5 solvents in the order of increasing polarity this i done using soxhlet. My doubt is that, the 5 extracts, whether it can be can be combined? altogether and it can be eluted r patitioned? if not y what pblm will occur.
If you extract the leaf powder with five different solvents in the order of increasing polarity, you are supposed to get five extracts with different chemical constituents which you can confirm by chemical tests. Now the five extracts can not be combined in any case because they are already separated from the crude drug using different solvents. If you want to combine them again, what is your ultimate goal as you will reach nowhere from there. I suggest you to use the different extracts separately. Try to find their chemical composition and plan further studies on them according to the various phytoconstituents present in each one of them. You mentioned that you are using a novel technique for extraction. I think unless and until you disclose your method of extraction i.e. the novel technique, commenters will be confused too. Hope you got my point.

It depends on which crude drug and aqueous or nonaqueous solvent. Also depends ob the group of active phyto costituents
you can use 5 types of solvents to guarantee the complete extraction, and we used this technique for long years with excellent results, you can extract your plant material in the following order, n-hexane, CHCl3, (CHCl3:Methanol 9:1), Methanol, H2O.
