If you wanna use MaxEnt software, first of all you should have updated Java with your system, so MaxEnt can be easily run.

As Ecological data, at least you should collect species occurrence coordinates (1), so the model algorithm can be processed. Higher number of true presence coordinates will increase the model accuracy. Also do an assessment that what are the parameters (2), on what your selected species occurrence depends (i.e. Temperature, Precipitation, NDVI, DEM, Ruggedness, Natural Resources, Aspect etc). so the software will search the similar values of depending parameters in other areas for distribution model of species.

These two data will provide their inputs, based on the "Maximum Entropy" algorithm. You will get model and AUC as results, can see in output folder.
