I am trying to help myself to understand the Merger and Acquisition (M&A) concepts, processes and evaluation. In the background study, I found few methods which requires information that not available, or not found in the financial statements, or not publicly published. This is I meant for 'data friendly'. So, I need help for understanding the M&A valuation methods (the most significant part) for self-learning and also for doing a research on the South Asian market.

I would go about understanding short and long term benefits. Short term benefits are usually related to overlapping functions that lead to cost reductions, while long term benefits are more in line with strategic synergies like access to different markets or building on existing R&D possibilities (depending on the industry. It could also be about vertical integration which could corner the local commodities market. Without a concrete example, it will be hard to give you more insights on where to look. You could look at patents files, details within the balance sheets, etc.
Can anyone share any source of data of merger and acquisitions, especially the numerical and financial type?
