I'm doing a research on transit stops design, with a focus on landscaping aspects and on the influence on transit ridership. The general assumption is that the design of transit stops actually plays a role both in the creation of the urban landscape and through its influence on travel behavior. I found some interesting studies but I’m still looking for realized projects and case studies.

Hello Elisabeth, I recall there was a one-year research project in Bauhaus Germany focused on transit spaces. The results of that research project was published in a book called Transit Spaces (Edition Bauhaus). The project was about different case studies in different countries. hope that helps.

A classical case of transit stop design is the bus rapid transit stations of Curitiba where much have been done in the design to turn a bus stop into a metro station.

Try to look for handbooks from Germany and the Netherlands. Also look for publications by prof. Piotr Olszewski, he has done interesting studies in Singapore and continues evaluation of transit stops. We are also doing some evaluation for Poznań transit, but have not yet published it, especially in foreign languages
Thank you all for you interesting and useful suggestions. It is still difficult to find landscape design and/or people perception-oriented approaches; in this sense, maybe Robin's interest on the "history of waiting" in the transportation context is the closest to mine. Maybe also handbooks and studies from Germany/Bauhaus may help me a lot but before buying them I'd like to have a look and unfortunately they're not my University library.
