I have to simulate the power production of an hybrid power system composed mainly by PVs, wind turbines, baterries and (maybe) fuel cell and the verify that the energy demand is covered, for my thesis work. I saw that there are many models in the litterature but due to my lack of experience I can not understand which is the best model to implement in matlab for this purpose.

The models greatly depend on the time frame of interest. Let's say you want to study power quality, then you need to model all the RES converters in great detail as it is related to the switching operation of the converters. However, let's say you are investigating transient stability, then you're talking in the range of milli second or even seconds and you do not quite need the detailed model as in the previous case and can neglect certain things such as high frequency switching of converters.
Now, let's say you are talking about energy balance or frequency stability where the time frame of interest is in minutes, then, you can neglect all the faster dynamics and simply represent your electrical models as a delay with the transfer function.

in rality my work is focused just on the quantity of energy produced and consumed by the plant to make a feasability study (the plant must be stand alone). Currently the investigation on the frequency stability is not an aim, but maybe it could be in a second moment.
So my professor suggest me to use the matlab script, instead of simulink, to implement a model for each of the component of the plant and, after this, develop a script in which is computed the power produced, consumed and stored according to the quantity of energy available from the sources (sun and wind in this case) during an year. My inputs are the coordinates of the place and some meteorological data to build a TMY (irradiance, temperature, wind velocity, RH) hourly basis.
As I said before I found a lot of model to predict the power produced by a PV panel, wind turbine and fuel cell but I do not understand which is the best for my purpose.
Could you suggest me some scientific papers?

as you can see in the previous answer the project must be in a matlab script due to the fact that the data are hourly basis and the simulation must be done along one complete year. I am not an expert of simulink, but if I am not wrong it is an effective software to simulate a small range of time.
Hello Marco, the expression for wind power is straight forward and most literatures calculate the output power based on wind turbine characteristics. There are several expressions for photovoltaic output power calculation and one commonly used is given in the attached paper.

Hi Marco, I work on the synthesis of a Microgrid energy management system through machine learning Algorithms.
I totally agree with your professor, use Matlab scripts (object oriented programming can be useful as well), no simulink.
I suggest you to read my last pubblication "ANFIS Microgrid energy management system Synthesis by hyperplane Clustering...". As you will see in the problem formulation, the level of abstraction is very simplified. I hope I gave you some useful hints.
